To become a member of the Lowestoft u3a you will need to complete an application form, this is available online to print off on our Links page or in paper form at our monthly speaker meetings.
There is an annual membership fee of £18 which is non refundable . If you join between Aug -Dec membership is reduced to £11 for the remainder of that year.

GIFT AID
This is very important to us as we can claim 25% back from the tax man on your membership. This helps us keep our fees as low as possible for everybody. So please if you are a tax payer don’t forget to fill in this part of your membership form.

Membership runs from the 1st January to the 31st December. The annual membership fee is non-refundable.
There is an attendance fee for each group session attended and is shown in the table above. Please see our Groups Schedule for a current list of our interest groups.
If you want to receive the U3A National Magazine – Third Age Matters – there is an additional charge of £3.60 which is paid in addition to your membership fee.
How to Join
Please print the 2025 Membership Form on the links page of our website or pick up a paper copy at our monthly speaker meetings held at The Avenue Hall , The Avenue on the last Wednesday of the month .
If you are a member of another u3a and you provide a copy of your current membership card to us membership will be reduced by £4
When you become a member, you are given a membership card with your unique ID number. You will retain this number for the duration of your membership with Lowestoft U3A. Please bring your card to each new activity that you join and to the monthly speaker meetings .please note when renewal cards are issued at the beginning of the New Year group leaders will need to see them at your first attended session , so that they can confirm your details on their register.
Renewals
Membership Renewal Forms will be available at the end of the year via your group leaders , at the monthly speakers meetings and our annual festive event . Alternatively you can print off your own form on our links page
Renewal forms can be returned directly to your group leaders , a member of the committee at the monthly speaker meetings or sent directly to the membership secretary at the address shown on the application form and also shown below. All renewals MUST be accompanied by a STAMPED SELF ADDRESSED ENVELOPE so we can send your 2025 membership card direct to you.

At your first group session for each of the groups you attend in the New Year please present your renewal card so that they can confirm your details on their group register
In completing the membership application form, you are agreeing to the following conditions of membership:
- Abide by the principles of the U3A movement
- Always act in the best interest of the U3A and never do anything to bring the U3A into disrepute
- Treat fellow members with respect and courtesy at all times
- Comply with and support the decisions of the elected committee
- Advise the committee of any change in your personal details
Updating your membership details
The details we hold on you can be checked and updated by logging into the Lowestoft u3a membership portal by using your membership number. It is also possible to look at what groups are available and those you are a current member of in the membership portal
