“ If you have read the regular posts on our Facebook page or the past articles in our newsletter showing the wonderful places Walking Group 1 has enjoyed visiting over the years, I hope you’ll agree with me that it would be a great shame if this group could no longer continue.
If you enjoy walking yourself, please consider becoming the new Group Leader. Alternatively, there may be several people who would be happy to share the role between them.
You will have the full support of John, our Walking Group 2 leader. John has already planned many walks for the coming months, so you won’t need to worry about this aspect of leading the group.

I truly hope Walking Group 1 doesn’t disappear!
It has given so many people the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful walks, beautiful places and, of course, good company over the years.

This year our Christmas Breakfast event will be held at Rookery Park Golf Club on 9th December.
Tickets are available as from September at the monthly speaker meetings or via a group leader or committee member
This competition is open to all Lowestoft u3a members. Even if you have not written a story since you left school, pick up your quill, your pen, open your laptop and have a go. There is no entry fee and you may even win a prize or discover a new talent .
Irene Sargent, former long time leader of our Writing Group and Trevor Shurman, leader of the Let’s Talk About Books group, will be judging the competition.
By submitting a story to the competition, you are declaring that the story is your own work, and we have your permission to publish it.You may submit more than one story.
Closing date for submissions is 6 pm Friday, 2 October 2026.

Lowestoft u3a has a private Facebook group for members only. It is an excellent way to keep up to date with news and events from the group
